Wayuu - Multipurpose throw
Maloka presents the Wayuu multipurpose throw. Handmade and fairtrade, this throw can be used as a table runner, a curtain holder, or even as a scarf!
This colourful throw was inspired by “The Chinchorros” (a type of hammock) and made using a warp twining or weft twining technique.
The Wayuu people are an ethnic group of the La Guajira Peninsula in northern Colombia and northwest Venezuela. The Wayuu not only use one of the most complex crochet and textile techniques in the world, but they are also known for preserving their rituals, celebrations to death and heritage. There is a huge background of the Wayuu culture that goes beyond its colourful crocheted Mochilas bags and beautiful woven hammocks.
